Psalm 56
O my God,
The continual oppression
of my enemies, my soul
does consume —
Pour forth Your mercy
like a roaring waterfall
lest they swallow me
utterly.
Even as my heart
melts within me,
my trust rests
solely in Thee.
I praise the strength
of Your Word,
no man is equal
to its power.
My refuge, to You I flee
when the multitude
turn my words against me.
Filled with evil thoughts,
they lay in wait, my
soul to trap and destroy.
Can their iniquity save them?
in wrath O God
shall You silence them.
You know my solitary way,
my tears You hold,
a record of every one.
Clinging to You,
my enemies flee —
for You, O Lord
are ever with me.
My God Your Word
is true; it stands
O Lord, and all
its truth have heard.
My trust in You
for refuge is sure,
rendering enemy devices
powerless evermore
against Christ’s blood
that paid my sin.
Since You are for me,
None can condemn me.
Nothing can separate me,
Not life, death, powers,
Time, place, anything else
From Your love in Christ.
O God Your deliverance
I know is secure.
The sacrifice of praise
at Your feet, I pour.
My deliverer, from death,
my soul You rescue.
Keep my feet steady
so I may ever walk with You.
