Shoutout to Amber Taube for collaborating with me and providing the free verse structure and expanding out the meaning of being God’s people. Amber is a missionary in a Southeast Asia and reading Psalm 100 in her country’s native language helped inspire her collaboration.
Psalm 100: We Your People
We Your people
down at the sea
in the coastlands,
crying in the desert
shouting in the city,
We Your people
keep festival,
a chorale of
sojourners,
orphans,
and widows.
We Your sheep
graze in green
pastures sprouting
from the scarred palm
of the good shepherd.
We Your people
dust-blown away
became bones
and tendon,
woven together,
objects of love.
We the ransomed
trade sighs for song
leap before you,
fall at the foot
of the Servant-King
We the redeemed
come with
mirth in one hand,
joy in the other
We Your people
say thank You
forever.
Your love
and faithfulness
will keep us
forever.
